We need your votes for these two songs to be final nominees!

We've received news that TWO of Cherry's tracks from the new album, have been put forward for the Best Original Song category in this year's British Blues Awards!!
Ian McHugh from UK Jazz FM has nominated Just Can't Live Without You and Martin Clarke from The Blues Session on Radio Wey, has put forward Man Overboard!

"Wowser!" says Cherry, "I am so, so happy and excited and buzzin' over these nominations! It's amazing to get recognition for writing. I speak for Max aswell as he wrote Just Can't Live Without You and we co-wrote Man Overboard together - we're over the moon and totally appreciate your votes! VOTE CHERRY!"

At this stage, the two songs aren't up against each other. 13 independent radio presenters have each put their favourite 4 original songs forward that they feel are worthy of the award. The songs with the most votes from each group of 4, go forward to be final nominees in the category. So cutting 52 songs to just 13!

It's one vote per email and voting is until the end of April and those all important links are -

From Monday 26th March and every night up until Thursday 29th March, Stephen Foster on BBC Radio Suffolk will be playing a different live track from a pre-recorded session that Cherry, Max and Robbie did earlier this month. There will also be an interview airing on Wednesday too.
Stephen's show is from 4-7pm and he will be playing Cherry's track around 6.45pm each night. You can tune in here - http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p008d8ps

Last Tuesday 13th March saw Cherry join none other than Walter Trout onstage at The Boom Boom Club in Sutton. This was the second time Cherry's been invited on stage by Walter in less than a year, the last time being at The Stables last autumn following on from some support slots she did with her band back in 2010.

Enjoy the clip below where Cherry sang Walter's title track from his album, The Outsider...

Well it was all going on last Sunday 11th March at the one and only 100 Club in London where Cherry and the boys performed an hour set in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust. Nick Slater, Cherry's dobro player was on vacation so Julian Burdock from 24 Pesos joined the guys onstage for a few numbers. Joe McElderry, who is a fundraiser for TCT joined the Random Band onstage, as did Clare Free and they all helped raise nearly £1000, so well done to everyone involved and special thanks to Philip Hargreaves for putting this event on.

Enjoy the fantastic pictures below thanks to Harriet Armstrong!

This past weekend has seen Cherry join the one and only Bernie Marsden as one of his special guests at his two sold out shows at the newly refurbished Radcliffe Centre in Buckingham along with the fabulous slide-guitarist Michael Messer and Cherry's bass player, Robbie Stewart-Mathews also joined Cherry, Bernie and his acoustic band to play a mean blues harp!
Cherry performed favourites, Mercedes Benz & Proud Mary. Says Bernie,"I've met a lot of singers in my time, but there's not many that can sing like this girl..Cherry Lee Mewis."
"I'm very proud and honoured to be asked by Bernie, who is a musician I have upmost respect for, to be a part of his sold out shows with his fantastic acoustic band, in support of the re-opening of this beautiful venue. I would love to play here with my band in the near future, so watch this space!"

Enjoy the pictures and footage below, with thanks to Roger Allen and Jeanette Gillott for photos and DHP Imaging for the footage!

Well, well, well! What a year 2011 was! From performing at some of the biggest blues festivals in the UK including the Great British R'n'B Festival, Maryport Blues Festival, Cropredy Convention, a return trip to Shetland Blues Festival, touring with Robin Trower, Mud Morganfield, a guest appearance onstage with Walter Trout at The Stables in Wavendon, to flying back out to Memphis to perform at BB King's on Beale Street and the Market St Festival in Columbus, Mississippi with her US band, Cherry had a year to shout about!
A great end to 2011 was being personally asked by Paul Jones to perform with the house band at his annual Christmas charity show at Cranleigh Arts Centre on 20th December! Paul also got up and played harmonica with Cherry on 'The Man Next Door' which also had the fabulous Marcus Bonfanti join Cherry onstage too! See the pic below of Cherry backstage with Paul and Bernie Marsden from Whitesnake who also performed. Footage available to view here - http://youtu.be/2T6Ype281i0 thanks to Roger Allen.
